"
The Lees have brought forth a masterfully layered example
from this vineyard near Sebastopol on classic Goldridge soils.
Soy, cinnamon bark and dry spice atop supple cherry fruit
and
well-handled tannins."
- Jon Bonné, SF Chronicle, August 15, 2010 |

"Medium-deep ruby color; deep, complex aromas of dark cherry,
forest floor and herbs;
rich, ripe, full of big cherry flavor;
lush and complex earthy and forest floor notes;
good
structure and balance; long finish.
Deep, expansive
Pinot with an amazing core of
dark cherry fruit.
This wine needs some time,
but you will have
trouble resisting
the urge to
drink it now."
- Pinot Report, November 2009 |

"Absolutely laden with optimally ripened,
black-cherry fruit and filled out with a full measure
of seamlessly fit oak. The wine is deep, dense and
involving from front to back. Its considerable concentration
and deft sense of balance garner it big points in
the near term, but it will only get better with
age and deserves at least a few years of patience."

"This opus from the Sonoma Coast
is a rich and lavishly filled wine whose impressive
complement of very deep and delicious fruit comes
with no debt to overdone ripeness.
It is plush on the palate, and, although showing
a good sense of fruity muscle, it stays supple
and balanced from front to back. Its combination
of polish and potency places it with those
at the head of the class."

"Wonderful harmony of dark fruits,
with ripe black cherry, black berry
and blue berry, ending with a peppery note.
Highly distinctive, smooth and polished,
the flavors grow on you. Impressive youngster.
Drink now through 2010. 216 cases produced."

"It would be easy enough to believe
that this dense, full-bodied Pinot was born of grapes
grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands given its sense
of sheer fruity scale and unstinting ripeness. It
is drenched in sweet oak but oozes wonderfully juicy
fruit all the way through its considerable length,
and it has all the extract it needs to handily buffer
the slight bit of heat that comes as the price of
its ongoing richness. Even if young, it is accessible
and tasty right now, and it will find its best place
as a partner to a savory lamb roast."

"Seriously endowed is the dark ruby-hued
2005 Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard. Aromas of forest
floor, raspberries, cherries, and spice are followed
by a wine with a medium-bodied palate, good underlying
acidity, light to moderate tannin, and attractive
freshness. It should drink well for 4-5 years."

"Ultrarich and concentrated, with gobs
of ripe raspberry, boysenberry and huckleberry fruit
that borders on syrupy in texture. Tight, focused
and persistent, this finishes with a gush of dark
berry fruit. Drink now through 2009"

"From the Sonoma Coast,
the dense ruby-colored 2004 Pinot Noir Sonatera
Vineyard offers sweet scents of black cherries,
blackberries, spice, and earth. Broad, rich, medium
to full-bodied, velvety-textured, and opulent, it
should drink well for a decade."

"Intense, cherry and
raspberry nose.
